Portrait Photography

For business and corporate portraits click here to email me.

Portraits are pictures of an individual. I believe that portraits should show the person as the person we all see and know. Often staged portraits look exactly that, staged.
I prefer to take portraits in your own environment, either at your home or on location. The subject is usually at ease there and 'more like themselves'.
This is particularly true of children. They are more likely to be comfortable and natural in their own environment.

Portraits can be for any reason, over and above the usual birthdays, formals, graduations, engagements, religious events, actor portfolio headshots etc. Other examples include charting the development of a new baby at regular intervals through their first years, first day at school etc.
Pregnancy or 'Baby bump' photos are a great way of documenting your childs life. Please contact for details on this specialist service.
As a full time photographer am covered by both professional liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.

Although based in Newtownabbey County Antrim, just outside Belfast, travel across Northern Ireland is possible.

After the initial contact I will provide you with a detailed quotation based on your personal requirements. This estimate will cover all my photography work, initial sample photographs and quality storage. There are no hidden charges. For the portrait shoot itself, whether it be at your home or in a location of your choosing there are a few points to bear in mind.
Clothing should be simple and plain where possible. The portrait is of you and your clothing should not distract from you.
Be wary of the latest fashions, as portraits will outlast them and the portrait will look dated.
As well as the traditional head and shoulders shots, full length portraits are also taken so dress accordingly, or indeed bring several sets of clothing.
Other advice will be given out when the booking is confirmed. When photographing children I like them to use props to give a more natural look. They can bring their favourite toy, an ice cream or a messy jam donut to get the right effect that produces a photograph of your child. The portrait can be a fun experience as some of the examples below show.My studio is also mobile so ideal for graduations, formals and school events.

We can then sit down and discuss any further services you require, whether it be enlargements, reprints, albums, matting, bonding or framing. If required CD/DVD versions of the session can be supplied as well as help with website publication for friends/relatives further afield.I have no fixed 'packages' as I believe every portrait sitting is individual and should be treated as such but call-out sitting fees start at £60.

Please feel free to contact me using the contact details on the contacts page or email me here.
